Rock coach allegedly strikes opposing player, NLL ruling due mid-week

In the wake of a heated, penalty minute filled game between the Toronto Rock and Minnesota Swarm this past Friday night, NLL Insider has received word from several sources that Toronto Head Coach Glenn Clark and Minnesota forward Sean Pollock got into an altercation while the two were retreating to their respective dressing rooms at the Air Canada Centre just minutes after the Swarm edged the Rock in OT, 17-16.

Sources say that while in the tunnel leading to the hallway that exits to both team’s dressing rooms, Pollock made a boisterous comment about the team’s win which Clark took exception to.

Clark then quickly approached Pollock and allegedly punched him twice in the face, sources say. Pollock did not retaliate and the situation was diffused when Minnesota Head Coach Duane Jacobs pulled Clark off of the Swarm forward, according to sources.

Metro Toronto Police, who were already on scene, were called to the dressing room area, but it is still unclear if assault charges have or will in fact be filed against Clark.

The two teams met again a day later in Minnesota, which saw the Swarm hold Toronto to just four goals in an 11-4 loss, the lowest single game output in the franchise’s history, dating back to even their first year in the league as the Ontario Raiders.

The Toronto Rock organization decided not to have Clark on the bench during the second game of this past weekend’s home-and-home series with Minnesota. Clark’s absence was not due to a suspension from the league offices, who were actually present the night before in Toronto during the altercation. Assistant Coach Terry Bullen served as the team’s Head Coach, while Clark watched the game from the press area in the stands.

NLL Insider has received confirmation from the NLL that an investigation into Friday night’s altercation is already underway and that a ruling on Clark’s actions will likely be decided on no later than this coming Wednesday.

There will also be several other routine investigations into on-floor activity that took place on Friday night, which saw numerous infractions that have resulted in player suspensions in previous seasons.

It is expected by many that Clark will receive a suspension for his actions, but the league would not comment on a potential length of a possible suspension.
