Brian Langtry: Getting My Blog ON!

Editor’s note: This is Mammoth forward Brian Langtry’s first blog for NLL Insider. We’ll get a pretty graphic for him next week.

So what if the internet is a fad and will be gone in three years. Its pending obsolescence in favor of the return of magazine subscriptions worldwide doesn’t damper my joy a bit. I AM IN THE CLUB… Yes! I am a blogger. Since the day I heard the word blog, a word that conjures up visions of green gelatinous sludge, I wanted some. I can picture Steve Govett now: sitting at his desk, surfing the lax web - part of the job description for lacrosse GM’s - looking for his daily fix of inside scoop, and seeing my picture.

“That bastard better behave,” he mumbles to Billy Hall, his omnipresent secretary standing over his shoulder.

Fear not, Steve. I will represent the Mammoth with tact and class…always. So what if Dungeonmaster69 on the message boards says that I am an arrogant ass. Who cares if WARLOCKSTEALTHFAN thinks I shoot too much. I won’t lash out and take it personally, for I am a blogger…a professional. Professionals get paid, right?

Since Jim Moss’ “PG” entries aren’t edgy enough, and all Snider talks about is knuckling up, the minds at NLL Insider decided to give me a forum to voice my takes on this glorious sport…word up. I will do my best to entertain readers, jokingly insult my friends, and honor the fans.

Here are 5 thoughts about the season so far: 1) The Swarm and Wings are young and good - Kudos to Jake Bergey for his season so far - Good thing you weren’t in the expansion draft…wait you were…so was I. NEXT! 2) Thursday night games bite; It’s hard enough getting off one day from work. 3) STAY DEAD STING. While it sucks for Arizona fans, we got two amazing coaches, Matt Brown, and my new best friend…Bruce Murray. I love you Bruce…seriously. 4) The Colorado Mammoth has the best defense and goalie tandem in the league. Am I biased? Yes. 5) Wait for next week…in literature and on the show Quantam Leap this is called a cliffhanger.

Brian is in his seventh NLL season, his sixth with Colorado. The Hofstra grad comes off a career 67-point season and is starting a camp business called Unified Lacrosse. Contact him at brian.langtry@nllinsider.com.
