Injury bug batters Buffalo

Injuries to Sean Greenhalgh, Brett Bucktooth and Craig Conn are not news in Buffalo, and the Bandits have done quite well for themselves in posting a 3-3 record despite not having the services of these three.

What the Bandits didn’t want were more injuries but that’s exactly what’s happened as they prepare for two games this weekend, tonight at Toronto and Saturday night at home against Minnesota.

According to The Buffalo News, Roger Vyse is still out after suffering a cut above his eye at work, second-leading scorer Mark Steenhuis is day-to-day with an upper body injury after missing last weekend’s game against New York, third-leading scorer Kevin Dostie will miss this weekend with an ankle injury and starting goalie Mike Thompson is out with a concussion after he was plowed over by New York’s Greg Peyser last week.

“It’s really not a pleasant thought,” Bandits coach Darris Kilgour said. “It’s going to be a real tough thing for our team to get over. If we can get good goaltending and solid defense we could be right there and maybe pull one out.”

Ken Montour gets the start in goal for Buffalo while Daniel Sams, with a total of 15 NLL minutes under his belt, will serve as the backup.
