Crystal vs. Leisel

Well, well, well.

As it turns out, you fellas pay just as much attention to the women as you do the players on the floor. You can’t deny it. We’ve got the numbers to prove it. Last week, we kicked off our weekly NLL Girls of the Week contest by pitting weekly winners against each other and judging by the number of votes cast in just 3 days of voting, there was plenty of gawking.

That’s not a bad thing, of course. But we can’t help but wonder that if more than 270 votes are cast in just 3 short days, what’s a full week gonna prove? We aim to find out as we set up matchup No. 2, which pits Crystal of the New York Titans against Leisel of the Portland LumberJax.

Before we move on to this week’s matchup, the winner of our first week was Nikki of the Shamrox, who outpolled Alanna of the Knighthaws by a wide margin, 206-66 with 67 percent of the votes.

So it’s on to the East Coast vs. West Coast matchup. If we’re lucky, the girls will see this poll and change some photos on their site like one of ‘em did last week. Voting ends Friday at midnight.

What type of celebrations would you like to see after big NLL goals?

So Crystal is a Sunday School teacher, eh? Hmmmm … anyone have any thoughts on that? Nevermind. There might be youngsters in the room.

Speaking of, Crystal’s a rookie member of the dance team, having moved to NYC from Utah and attending games last year as a fan. She worked up the gumption to try out for the dance team and, well, here she is.

“I just wanted to be a part of it,” she says. ”I’d lay down the turf for the team if I had to.”

Reminds me of what Jenner did to make the Knighthawks back in the day. She’s a regular blogger on her NLL profile page and even displays a gradual learning of the puncuation key on her keyboard. Yet with all the good-natured ribbing we toss her way, there’s no denying she’s a fan of the team. Check out what she’s written and along the way, take a look (or two) at the pics she’s posted. Be nice to her and she might even let you be her friend.

Major props go to Leisel for being such a fan of “Scrubs,” quite possibly the funniest show on television.

Of course, that’s all opinion, but it’s not opinion that this third-year dance team member of the Jax brings a specific aesthetic quality to the floor. She’s also a dancer for the NBA’s Portland TrailBlazers, so her winters are filled with dances and, no doubt, cat calls from the stands. Of course, all those cat calls come during NBA games because as we all know, lacrosse fans are much more classy and would never do such a thing. Right?

She digs super heroes. How do we know that? Well, according to her NLL profile page, her favorite player is goalie Dallas Eliuk, and that goalie’s fascination with super heroes is no secret. So, we just threw in some guilt by association. Besides, Leisel’s not a regular blogger, which makes it tough for us to really get to know her. It’s great that she likes her mom’s bannana bread and all, but is that really why we’re checking out her page? No big. She makes up for the lack of words by posting a few additional photos of herself on the page. You can just skip the ones where she’s wearing blue jeans and get right to the shots in the water.
