A big ‘thank you’ from Hamley

Bob Hamley sure has run the gamut of emotions in the last calendar year. Coming so close to an NLL title with the Arizona Sting, enduring a labor dispute, only to see the league emerge, but his team take a break. He landed a job as an assistant, then got a new head coaching gig in Edmonton, where the struggles to win have been well-documented.
What better way to get your thoughts out to everyone than with one big letter to the lacrosse community, and Hamley today offers his thoughts and thanks with his words, e-mailed to us here at NLLInsider.com, that follow:
It has been an up and down 5 months since the Coyotes decided to put the Sting on the shelf. I have a new home now and the only thing we know for sure is I will not be back with the Sting.
I have wanted to contact every person that I have met in my 4 incredible years in Arizona but it just wasn’t possible … until now.
Thanks John Jiloty and NLL Insider.
To the Arizona fans, although not large in numbers, made up for it in so many ways with their support and passion for the Sting. I miss you and hope to see you in the future. A special shout out to Bill Casey and his Glendale Youth Lacrosse League. Thanks for being in lacrosse “for ALL the right
reasons.”
To the Sting staff. Barb, Dustin, Slip, Rick, Fergy, Jim and Dan. You were a championship staff that gave everything you had to make us successful on and off the floor.
“The Stingers.” From the best captain in the NLL to the best 6′5″ role model I know, to the Desert Rat, to the Mouse, to the veteran goalie that everyone gave up on, and to No. 8 for having the heart of lion … Thanks to all of you for making my job an easy one.
To Steve Govett, Bill Hall, Slip, Mammoth players and staff for giving me an opportunity when one was not available. You all are tremendous people and I wish you the best. (until we meet again of course)
To Bruce Urban and Duane Vienneau. For giving me a chance after making the toughest decision in your young Rush history.
Last but not least to my family: Lisa, Brock and Kelsea, for believing in me and letting me follow my dreams.
Finally to all the fans of the NLL: Yes, we do read the boards and listen to our fans when meet in person. Stay positive and keep giving the NLL teams
your support.
Thank you.
Yours in lacrosse,
Bob Hamley
(Edmonton Rush coach)
