Showdown in the wild, wild west

Now that I’ve been staring at the headline while writing this sentence, I can’t get that “Wild, Wild West” song outta my head, the one by Will Smith. I wanna jump off the ledge and I’m sure someone out there will volunteer to push. Will someone please give me some lacrosse to write about?

Well, would ya look at that?!? It’s shaping up to be a pretty sweet weekend out west, and there’s even a game or two of intrest here on the east coast. Yet it’s the collision course of two teams out west that peaks the interest here: First-place Colorado (5-3), on a three-game losing streak, is visiting the third-place Calgary Roughnecks (4-6), winners in two of their last three games, which includes a win over Colorado. That’s a pretty good mix of ingredients for one holy matchup.

“With the rivalry, we get up for these types of games,” Colorado’s Gavin Prout told The Canadian Press.

“Colorado is one of the best teams in the league so we know an angry giant is coming to Calgary,” said Calgary’s Tracey Kelusky of the Mammoth.

So as these two Western giants square off, we can also keep an eye on the San Jose vs. Philadelphia game and when the dust settles, the West division could have a whole new look.
