NLL Girls: Anne vs. Elizabeth

nllgow2.jpg

East Coast vs. West Coast. Blonde vs. Brunette. Yeah, it’s not exactly Brown v. the Board of Education, but that doesn’t mean it’s not important, right?

Well, no one ever accused me of having my priorities in order, but I do know this: We love our NLL Girls. And this week, we have the classic blonde vs. brunette matchup with Anne from Calgary going up against Elizabeth of Philadelphia. Last week, a whopping 77 percent of you loved Chantal more than you did Natalie, giving the Toronto Rock dancer the biggest margin of victory yet since we started our little weekly gawk-fest.

Is Anne the kindergarten teacher gonna get the love this week? Or is it gonna be Elizabeth, an Angel in Philadelphia? Take a look at the pictures provided and if that’s not enough, you better scramble and get a new calendar because both the Calgary and Philadelphia dance teams have calendars available that feature their girls.

Vote today because, as usual, we’re closing the voting booth Friday at midnight.

Need we any words for Anne? Wow. In her sixth year with the Calgary Roughnecks, this dancer knows her way around the Saddledome in Calgary but there’s no doubt she’d have little trouble getting directions from anyone she stops to ask.

When she’s not teaching kids, she’s doing some yoga (they do stretching in those classes, right?), she skis and gives it a go with Guitar Hero. The thing is, she doesn’t just play Guitar Hero, she “breaks a sweat” playing Guitar Hero. Before you accuse us of being pigs, those are the words of Anne, as spoken to the NLL back in February when she was named Girl of the Week. That must explain the bikini shots that appear on her NLL page because we can’t have sweaty pictures of her in regular clothing, right? It’s best to avoid heat stroke and wear a bikini. At least in Anne’s case, and we’re thankful she had the vision to don such swimwear. We’re just looking out for your health, Anne. And happy to see you are, too. Heat stroke can be dangerous!

We still don’t think many, if any, words are necessary to bring you closer to Anne, and it has nothing to do with the fact that her NLL profile page is nearly blank. We’re just smart enough to know that a picture can be worth a thousand words and we’re confident enough to let Anne’s picture essay do the talking and for you to do the voting.

As for Elizabeth, picking on her for being from New Jersey is too easy so we’ll leave that alone. Besides, we’re thinking she’s spent enough time in Philly to toughen up a bit so we won’t tempt her fury.

This first-year dancer for the Angels doesn’t do much outside of dancing but she does mention singing in the shower as one of her hobbies. Hobby? When we hear hobby, we think of coin collectors tripping over each other to get a glimpse of some rare coin, peering through some sort of looking glass and being all geeky and stuff. Picturing Elizabeth singing in the shower is anything BUT geeky, but throw in her self-admitted talent of “I can roll my tongue” and yeah, there might be some guys tripping over each other to move in on Elizabeth. Just be careful, boys. One of her listed pet peeves is “mean people” and if you touch a wrong nerve, that Philly toughness is bound to drop you to the ground like a bad habit. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

So check out Elizabeth on both her NLL profile page and her Angels team page, where there’s a short video clip of her dancing. Solo. Complete with a pink background. Looks like an ad for Victoria’s Secret, if you ask us, but nobody did and we’re definitely not gonna complain about that one.
