Brian Beisel signed by Philadelphia Wings

The Philadephia Wings have signed former Champion’s Cup, Mann Cup and Minto Cup winner Brian Beisel today, just hours before today’s 3PM EST trade deadline day cut-off.

Beisel last played for the Arizona Sting during the 2007 season, but was one of the few players not picked up by any current teams during last fall’s Dispersal Draft. Beisel played in all of one of the Sting’s regular season games last season, while starting in all three of the team’s playoff games, including their Champion’s Cup final loss to the Rochester Knighthawks.

Beisel was likely picked up for some additional veteran leadership on a fairly young Wings team and will also likely fill in for defenders Taylor Wray and Shawn Nadelen, who are both still expected to miss a few games due to their NCAA coaching gigs.

Beisel, one of three unrestricted free agents on the Sting’s roster from last year, will remain the Wings’ property no matter what happens with the Sting in the off-season.
