AN NLL Easter: Stealth Style
Easter this year was like none other for myself, and it all starts out on Saturday.
A big win during the afternoon put myself and the rest of our squad in a great mood. To celebrate, we took Shaydon Santos up on his offer of a little BBQ and some beers on the beach in Santa Cruz. The spread was unreal. Burgers, corn, potatoes, salad, all the good stuff. After the BBQ we headed to the beach. We got a fire going, brought the keg to the beach, had some good laughs and a few good brews.
Other than the fact that I was being called No Fun Frank (it’s a long story behind that) it was a great time.
Easter Sunday came and it seemed tough to top the night before. All the guys who live out here got together around the pool. We worked on the tans and saw perhaps the greatest swimmer in the world. He was definitely Zach Heffner’s boy. Then the idea came up to have a nice little Easter dinner.
Everyone pitched in. Todd Fairlie cooked up a glazed ham that would make Emeril yell out “Bam!” Steve Panarelli cooked up some muscles and then took his shirt off to make sure we could all see his, Sean Morris managed to cook some potatoes that were still growing when they came out, Stacy Doyle brought some wine and Colin brought his daughter and a bunch of bad jokes. Kyle Sorenson and Curtis Hodgson brought the beers and then made sure they all got drank, Heff was taking the pics and talking about speedbumps, Tommy Johnson was wheeling girls while wearing his speedo, Boldie made sure the food was healthy enough to go in his temple/body and Jeff Zywicki demanded his poker winnings the whole time.
The dinner ended with two cakes we got from Safeway that were described as “the moistest cake you’ve ever tasted.” Doyle dusted one himself while the rest of us shared picked at what was left. A few beers, and few more laughs and the night was over.
A great weekend was wrapped up in a great way. An Easter weekend with your teammates, a big win and in 70 degree weather. Not a shabby couple of days at all.
