Knighthawks set for new ownership

We’ve been settin’ the pace all season long, and some of ‘em are startin’ to keep up.
Our own Paul Tutka told ya earlier this week about who’s gonna be the new boss of the Rochester Knighthawks, and now the Rochester newspaper is reporting the same. Curt Styres of Six Nations is indeed the man but, of course, he wasn’t sayin’ too much on Thursday night when the Rochester paper was puttin’ itself together. Thew newspaper contacted Styres, but he didn’t say “yes” and he didn’t say “no.” In fact, he said said he’d have to return the phone call “in a couple days.”
The move basically would save the franchise. It’s in financial hot water and Styres’ purchase would buy out the share of Randall Latona (20 percent) and Walter Turek (40 percent) and make Styres majority owner. Donner would retain his 40 percent and stay on to run the day-to-day operations.
And speaking of new ownership issues, the Chicago Shamrox are looking for new owners. Team owner Kevin Loughery Jr. said in a news release that the team is officially on the market. Loughery said he turned away relocation overtures and believes the NLL has a strong future in Chicago, but the challenge of being an out-of-town owner is what convinced him to sell.
