Toronto Rock fire coach Greg Van Sickle
NLL Insider has learned that the Toronto Rock have fired Assistant Coach, Greg Van Sickle, after the team’s 0-2 fall-out this past weekend.
Van Sickle, the team’s Offensive Coach, has been under scrutiny for much of the season for the little offensive production the Rock have shown in 2008.
Toronto has twice posted four goal games this year, both losses and both franchise record lows.
The Rock only mustered up 15 goals over their two games this past weekend, again, a pair of losses. The team dropped from second in the East to barely holding onto fourth after their winless weekend, which saw them dropped by both Rochester and Philadelphia in crucial division battles.
Van Sickle, a former Minto Cup (Whitby ‘85) and Mann Cup (Brooklin ‘90) winner, was the lone coach dropped by the team today. It is unknown who will step into the role for the team’s final three regular season games this year.
