City slaps Rochester Knighthawks with ultimatum

Well, the good news is that the Rochester Knighthawks got a win last weekend. Hopefully that will suffice for a while.
Straight from the Oh This Will End Well files, Mayor Duffy has very publicly instructed Knighthawks owner Steve Donner–shown at left in his file photo–to either sell the Knighthawks as well as the AHL’s Amerks, or get out of the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial.
The Democrat and Chronicle would have us believe that the situation isn’t as bad as it sounds. According to that article, the big hang-up is that the AHL needs to approve Curt Styres’s bid to buy out current co-owners Walter Turek and Randall Latona but can’t do that just yet because the application form is incomplete, which is confidence-inspiring.
Fear not Rochesterians, Donner also believes that if things don’t work out with the BCA, the teams can always play somewhere else in Rochester. Anyone want to volunteer their backyard?
