Shanny’s Power Rankings: Week 16
In my 10 years of covering the NLL I’ve never seen a season like this one. Great starts by Philly, Minnesota and Colorado followed by mediocrity, and dismal starts by Edmonton , Chicago and Rochester followed by resurgence (except for Edmonton this weekend). At least we now know that we will not be having 12 teams finishing the season at 8 and 8 as a couple of teams (Philly, Minnesota) got their 9th victories and a couple (Edmonton, Portland) got their 9th losses. (I know, Calgary got theirs last weekend).
Only two weeks left and everyone still has playoff hopes. At this point every remaining game is meaningful but check out the match ups on the last weekend of the season. The playoffs will be on the line as New York hosts Rochester and Calgary visits Edmonton and first place will be up for grabs when Colorado meets the Stealth in San Jose. Back to the Power Rankings, you might be surprised at the new leader.

Philadelphia Wings 9-5 Very impressive weekend on the road, especially Saturday’s performance after travelling across the country against the rested Swarm. |
2 (2) |
Minnesota Swarm 9-4 Almost blew what looked like an easy victory. |
New York Titans 7-6 Dominant over the Mammoth. |
4 (1) |
Buffalo Bandits 8-6 Will they regret giving the Knighthawks another day to live? |
San Jose Stealth 8-6 Finally a dominant victory at home. |
6 (8) |
Rochester Knighthawks 7-7 Finally playing like champions. |
Colorado Mammoth 7-6 Hard to keep calling them an “elite” team with a losing road record. |
Toronto Rock 7-7 Overtime loss to Chicago is the only difference between the Rock being in 6th place instead of 3rd. They no longer control their own destiny. |
9 (11) |
Chicago Shamrox 5-7 I still say its too late but with 4 wins in a row and 4 remaining the Shamrox still believe. |
10 (12) |
Calgary Roughnecks 5-9 Finally. A little offense and a lot of killer instinct. |
Portland Lumberjax 5-9 Two tough road games remain in San Jose and Buffalo |
Edmonton Rush 4-9 A weekend to forget. Playoff chances still in their own hands. |
