NLL Girl of the Week, Round 2: It’s Megan vs. Chantal
Last week, we told ya that we were taking a break from our first-round matchups to let the NLL Girls of the Week selection process catch up with us. Well, it looks like we’re caught up.

The National Lacrosse League let me know that our forray into the second round was right on schedule because, as it turns out, all the selections for the season are finished. So what’s that mean? It means we’re in the process of creating our Final Four. And with Crystal’s close win over Nikki last week, it looks like the Titans have playoff reps playing lacrosse and cheering for it. Not a bad year for the franchise, eh?
This week’s matchup, our 10th of the season, puts San Jose’s Megan up against Toronto’s Chantal. Backing up just a wee bit, it was tough not to notice the vote total of last week’s matchup, and since it came in at a precious 311, we’ve included a bonus video tribute to one of our favorite bands of all time … something you can see after the jump.

You know the drill by now. Take a look at the pics provided, cast your vote and make haste. Poll closes at midnight on Sunday.

Megan’s the brunette with the San Jose Spy Girls whose NLL profile page is bringing in comments from Arkansas. Gotta admit, that’s still pretty impressive. When we think up-and-coming lacrosse hotbeds, Arkansas ain’t the first thing on our minds. Texas and Arizona, maybe, but surely not the Razorback state. Whatever, she’s got people paying attention to her the game, so who are we to complain? Lacrosse is taking over America, and stealing your baseball players, right? In any case, Megan got through a competitive first round matchup with Angela of the Colorado Mammoth, hopefully she’s got enough game left to win her second-round matchup. She’s had a nice break since that matchup with Angela, though, so you gotta think she’s ready to go.
At least her San Jose Stealth are ready to go, as champs of the West division. Here’s hoping Angela’s studies at San Jose State don’t get in the way of where her focus should be: Lacrosse!

Up in Toronto, Chantal and the Rock aren’t so fortunate. There’ll be no playoffs for the first time in the history of the franchise. If you’ll recall, however, when Chantal was first introduced to us, we were trying to figure out how the color, er, colour brown found its way into the Rock uniform scheme. It’s not something we spent a lot of time focused on, but revisiting her NLL profile page kinda rekindles the question. It’s too bad, too. ‘Cause we really should be taking note of her successful career in business and the fact that one of her favorite movies is “Anchorman.” Way cool.
While you’re at Chantal’s profile page, check out the photos of her NOT in Rock uniform. Kinda reminds us of a J. Crew or L.L. Bean catalog. Prep, all the way. Then again, maybe that’s where the brown comes into play with her Rock uniform shoot. Tryin’ to keep that earth tone look, ya know? Whatever the reasoning, we figure your stay at her profile page, like Megan’s, won’t be a short one. So make sure you’ve got a few spare minutes. Don’t say you weren’t warned.
Chantal got here by beating Minnesota’s Natalie in a landslide, 102-31. Not even close. So what’s that momentum going to do for her in the second round? It’s not just East vs. West here, people, it’s blonde vs. brunette! For most of us males voting, that’s probably one of the toughest questions we’ve ever face in our lives. Well, it’s decision time. Make your vote count.
OK, now for the promised video that really has nothing to do with the contest, other than the lucky number of total votes that were cast last week. Crank it.
