NLL Playoffs Edition: The Money Ballers

After going through last year’s playoff game sheets and rifling through this past weekend’s 08 opening round in order to piece together some digits for our Playoff Edition of The Money Ballers, I gotta tell ya, last year’s post-season was super lame.

Well not lame, cuz their were some dominating performances for sure, but the games themselves had next to no back-and-forth, nail biters outside of the East Final in Rochester. Gotta have mustard on my dog, double cheese on my pies and barn burners in my post-season. That’s just the way it’s gotta be.

Mirror that to this year, where we’ve already had four pretty intense games, all of which have been decided in the fourth and final period of play, and I’m thinkin’ we’re in for some beauties from here on out.

The same goes for the boys on The Money Ballers, who thrive when it’s all on the line. 07’s post-season leader-board (found below) pales in comparison to even just this year’s first four games. Parity mighta been Pee Wee’s word of the day for most of this season, but clutch wasn’t far behind. (Note: Jenner was forwarding me all sorts of Herman clips all year, along with other Pee Wee paraphernalia. Creepy, but it finally came in handy. That’s whatcha call a double entendre right there folks. Some might have to think about it, but trust me, it’s there… oh yes, it’s there.)

Dan Dawson’s performance against the Stealth on Sunday landed him 11.5 clutch points, the largest single game total of the entire year, while Casey Powell, and last year’s playoff heartthrob, Mike Accursi, look like they could do some serious damage this coming weekend and maybe beyond.

Even in losing efforts, regular season Money Baller leaders, Colin Doyle, Sean Pollock and Andy Secore, all managed to land a spot on the charts, which I think just goes to show how relied upon those ball players really are.

And not only were Peter Morgan’s seven helpers against San Jose impressive just on their own, five of the seven registered as either a tying, go ahead or game winning assist to boot.

Anyways, this past weekend’s top clutch scorers are below, and just so you can see how they stack up against 07’s snipe show, I added last spring’s full breakdown of The Money Ballers over the eight post-season clashes.
