Dawson, Jax reach new NLL heights
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Dan Dawson’s heard all the jokes about being 6-foot-5 and playing for the LumberJax. It’s nothing new.

And neither is the way dude’s playing lacrosse these days. Dominant. Overpowering. Unstoppable. Just a few of the words that come to mind when when you’re rapping about Dangerous Dan, whose 12-point performance last weekend was the catalyst in Portland’s upset of the San Jose Stealth in a first-round National Lacrosse League playoff game. Dawson pumped in seven goals and helped on five others for the LumberJax, who are following the big fella into Calgary for Saturday’s West division final against the rolling Roughnecks. Even the humble Dawson had to admit it. He was “on.”
“No doubt, my shots were dropping,” he tells the Vancouver Sun. “I had a couple that were an inch inside the pipe instead of an inch outside the pipe. Those kinds of games are fun. The breaks seem to go your way. You just want them to last forever.”
Now that’s the kind of talk fans in Portland wanna hear and unless there’s someone out there who can step up and shut down DDD, these LumberJax just might be playing forever.
