Mueller honored as NLL’s top coach

A 1-4 start to the season won’t get your name in many conversations as candidate for coach of the year.

But a 9-2 record the rest of the way will, and that’s just where Adam Mueller of the New York Titans finds himself today, being awarded the Les Bartley Award asĀ Coach of the Year for the National Lacrosse League. Mueller’s led quite a turnaround in the Big Apple, taking a team that finished 4-12 last season to a 10-6 mark this season and the East division final, where the Titans will play the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday night for the right to advance to the Champion’s Cup game. Big props to Mueller as well for becoming the first coach in National Lacrosse League history to lead three different teams into the playoffs. He did it with the Philadelphia Wings in 2002 and the Minnesota Swarm in 2006.

Also honored today is Marty O’Neill, named General Manager of the Year. O’Neill has been with the Minnesota Swarm since its inception and has built a team that’s qualified for the playoffs in three straight seasons.
