NLL Girl of the Week, Round 2: It’s Sabrina vs. Ashley

Well, here we are. It’s the final quarterfinal and the results of this week’s vote will finalize the final four of our National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week contest.

What a long, strange trip it’s been, but as we stare into that light at the end of the tunnel, we can smile with satisfaction knowing how much better the world is for our dedication to such important … stuff. Last week, Elizabeth of the Philadelphia Wings ran away with the contest against Caelee of Edmonton. Wasn’t even close, really, with a 312-157 vote count in favor of Elizabeth. Who will challenge Elizabeth in the semifinals is the winner of this week’s matchup, which puts Ashley of the Chicago Shamrox up against Sabrina of the Toronto Rock. Yet again, we’re looking at another classic case of the blonde vs. the brunette, but it’s not like we planned it that way. It’s just a convenient coincidence.

You know the routine. Check out what we’ve got for ya after the jump, read the words and then proceed to make an intelligent, informed decision. The fate of all that important … stuff … depends on it.

What’s there to say about Ashley? It’s her dream to be in Playboy and her favorite dance move is something she calls the “booty pop.”

Being the old curmudgeons that we are here at NLLInsider, we have no idea what the booty pop is, but we’re not completely dull. We gots ourselves an idea of what it could be, but something we are absolutely sure of is Playboy. THAT, we recognize. That’s not to say it’s the sole reason to vote for Ashley, but it’s certainly not hurting her chances. Besides, she’s a Downers Grove resident and that’s just around the corner from Hugh’s mansion. And with the price of petrol these days, we can certainly find the sentiment to support the dreams of a potential Playboy bunny, especially if she doesn’t have that far to drive to get there. Aren’t we supposed to be going green these days anyway?

Besides, Ashley and her fellow Shamrox dancers didn’t have an awful lot to dance for this season. Chicago made a nice run for the playoffs toward the end of the season, but it was certainly a rough start for the franchise. What better way to end the season than with a smile for at least one person in the organization?

Sabrina’s no stranger to competition. She just wrapped up her fifth year as a member of the dance team in Toronto and like Ashley and the Shamrox, there’s no postseason party in either city.

Don’t think that leaves Sabrina bored, though. Not at all. She’s a college student, pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Toronto with the ultimate dream of an occupational therapist. Lofty, for sure. And being around lacrosse for so long no doubt has exposed her to a fair share of recoveries, so besides fulfilling her desire to dance, she’s had a pretty good look at what her future occupation may entail. Besides all that, Sabrina has really connected with us with something she mentioned on her Rock profile page: she’s a big fan of sleeping in. Now, it sounds simple, we know. But our vast experience with sleep has led us to the conclusion that there is nothing better on this earth than sleep. Sure, there’s beer and there’s lacrosse and there’s a lot of other things high up on the list of things that are great about life, but is there really anything better than sleep? Think about that before you answer. Really think hard about that, then get back to us.

Perhaps one of the coolest things about this contest has been the reaction we get from the girls themselves. We don’t hear a lot from them personally, but a few have made changes to their NLL profile pages and whether that’s a direct result of the pub they get from this contest, we can’t say for sure. But, being the pigs that we are, we’re gonna take credit anyway. So what prompts these words? We couldn’t help but notice a couple of new pics on Sabrina’s NLL page and yeah, we’re gonna say they were posted there to bring in some Web traffic in the hopes of garnering another vote or two. Hey, it is campaign season after all, right?
