Point named NLL Rookie of the Year
No big surprise here. Then again, it kinda could be.

Point is, the voting by the league’s coaches, general managers and executives to name a National Lacrosse League Rookie of the Year was kind of a can’t-miss proposition. That’s how solid this season’s class of rooks were, but it’s Minnesota’s Craig Point who’s taking home the hardware for 2008. The right-hander out of Six Nations led all the rookies with 27 goals and also had 34 assists and 74 loose balls. “I didn’t think anything would top being one of the first picks in last year’s draft but I am very honored and privileged to accept the award,” Point said in a statement on MNSwarm.com.
Now, about that can’t-miss point made earlier? Just take a look at the rest of the All-Rookie team and you’ll see what I mean. You’ve got Tyler Codron (Portland), Jordan Hall (New York), Bobby McBride (Chicago), Jamie Rooney (Philadelphia) and Merrick Thompson (Philadelphia). See what I mean? That’s a solid, solid lineup.
Tomorrow: The All-Pro team is named.
