NLL youth is served for LumberJax
So when you see Peter Jacobs trot on to the rug Saturday night for the Portland LumberJax, just remember one thing: Dude’s 18. As in, years old.

Kinda crazy, isn’t it? When you were sportin’ your mullet and Zubas pants in 1989, this left-hander from Akwesasne was being born. And last year, when you were sucking wind after climbing the flight of stairs from your basement bedroom in your parents’ house, Jacobs was being drafted in the in the second round by Portland. Sure, the pick was based pretty much on natural ability and raw talent, but the surprise for coach and general manager Derek Keenan was the early arrival of poise and maturity for Jacobs. It took a few games for Jacobs to crack the regular lineup, but there’s no complaining by Keenan. Jacobs put together a solid rookie campaign that included 11 goals and 12 assists, including 4 power play goals and even a game-winner.
So try to keep that in mind when you watch Jacobs, who will be the youngest player to ever play in the National Lacrosse League’s Champion’s Cup game when the Jax take on Buffalo on Saturday night. “We feel really fortunate to get him,” Keenan tells NLL.com. “He’s mature beyond his years both mentally and physically. It’s hard to believe he’s 18 when you watch him play.”
