MAY-hem just doesn’t express it!

So, you think you’re a lacrosse fan, but you’re depressed because the National Lacrosse League season is over?

Pack up the family and move your butt to Rochester because May is when we take a breath for about sixteen seconds and roll right into the next lacrosse fandemonium.  Take a look at this weekend for most of us Upstate New York lacrosse fans:

Thursday May 22nd 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.: The Rattlers Rowdies debuted the Rattlers Roundup Radio Show for the summer.  Tune into www.rattlersrowdies.com each week to hear from all of your Rattlers favorites and of course the Ripper Report.

Friday May 23rd 6:30 p.m.: The Rochester Rattlers will hold a Viewing Party at The Distillery at 3010 Winton Road South on Friday, May 23rd. The festivities will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. Lacrosse fans can settle in and watch the Rattlers (1-0) battle the Boston Cannons (1-0) LIVE on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. The game is the second of a two-game road trip for Rochester. The Rattlers opened the season with a 16-10 win over the Long Island Lizards last weekend. At The Distillery, Rattlers fans can meet members of the Venom Dance Team and sign up to win team merchandise and tickets.

Saturday May 24th, Noon until 5 p.m.: NCAA Division I men’s semi-final games.  You absolutely cannot ask for a better Final Four: Syracuse, Duke, Johns Hopkins and Virginia have won every title since I swear the beginning of record keeping and they all crash the ‘Boro (sorry PBoro) this weekend.  If I’m allowed, my son and I will be watching both games and cheering on ‘Cuse and Duke to clash on Monday.

Sunday May 25th,  noon: The Rattlers Rowdies will be hosting a tailgate party at the Genesee Valley Ice Arena before the 2 p.m. Rochester Greywolves versus Onondaga Redhawks game.

I will have a grill there, but we’re asking everyone to bring their own grillable selections, beverages and a dish to pass and enjoy the gorgeous weather and the long weekend.  Of course, don’t forget your lacrosse sticks and balls. Who knows when an impromptu game might break out?  Weather looks to be sunny and close to 80 degrees.  We’ll try to get the DII and DIII finals on the radio or run inside and watch them on the TVs in the arena.

Monday May 26th, Memorial Day

First of all, from my family to yours, the happiest of Memorial Days.  Please take a moment to remember all of those who have gone before and answered the call of duty.  My wife and I served in Desert Shield/Storm and we’ll have our son at the parade in our hometown on Monday morning.

1 p.m. NCAA DI men’s Championship Game. Whoever is playing, this is always a great game with dreams fulfilled while the defeated think what could of been.

Enjoy the weekend and Go Orange, no not UVA.
