The Money Ballers: JR A Edition
Man, is Cody Jamieson for real?
In last night’s clash with the Whitby Warriors, the #1 ranked Six Nations Arrows looked like their goose was finally cooked, heading into the third period down 8-4 and all but done.
Then Jamieson shifted gears and netted four goals, the only goals by either team in the period, to knot things up at eight. You knew he was gonna get the rock, you knew he was gonna shoot and I’m sure at some point in the third, even the Warriors knew he was gonna score. Outside of running him over with a tank, there was not stopping Jamieson on Tuesday night.
OT starts up and Whitby scores two goals in the opening five minutes, but trust it, no one in the barn thought this one was even close to being done. The scoreboard coulda read five minutes or five seconds left, with the way Jamieson was playing, only he was gonna determine who was gonna win this one.
So, as if the Arrows scripted this game themselves, Jamieson scores to pull it within one and then helps set up the tying goal in OT too. Even though Holden Vyse was tagged with the winner with under 20 seconds left in the game, I swear to God, it had to be Jamieson decked out in some sorta Vyse Halloween costume, cuz dude was beyond lights out last night. Had he been asked to cure cancer anytime during the third period on, I sure as hell know I wouldn’t have doubted him. There was nothing Cody couldn’t do in the W.
And even though Jamieson doesn’t sit at the top of our Money Ballers’ leaderboard right now, that honour goes to a pretty deserving Jesse Guerin from Peterbrough, if he keeps pulling the trigger in tight games like we saw last night, he’ll be an easy winner of this thing once the regular season closes up shop.
Couple quick shout-outs to some other guys on the charts whose initials aren’t CJ (The inverse of JC, Jesus Christ!!!! Is this guy the second coming or what!!!). I’ve mentioned him before, but have to drop his name again, and that’s New West’s Max Gallant. He’s barely in the BCJALL’s top 20 in scoring, but is right up there on The Money Ballers, behind only the Lakers’ leader. Even when Max only posts like a single marker in a game, nine times outta ten, it’s money.
Nanaimo’s duo of Cody Bremner and Colton Clark have also scored a whack of big goals for the struggling T-Men, again proving that you don’t necessarily need to play on a winning club in order to score clutch goals. The two are the only teammates within our top 10.
And how bout Akwesasne’s Kyle Buchanan? Of the Indian’s five wins this year, Buchanan has either scored or setup the winner in each one of those games. Hell, that’s the definition of clutch!! His three GWG have him tied with Gallant for the lead in the country.
Anyways, here’s this week’s top dawgs, one all the way to 30…
