Burlington and Orangeville with Wednesday wins in Jr.

In the midst of all the noise being made over the Six Nations Arrows, Orangeville Northmen and Akwesasne Indians and their impressive starts, the Burlington Chiefs have managed to sneak off to a 5-2 record to begin the season, notching win number five last night over the K-W Braves 12-5.
The Chiefs outscored the Braves in each of the three periods, with Kyle Matisz scoring three and helping on five and Ryan Learn scoring two and adding three helpers to contribute his five points on the night. Jason Crawford nabbed the win in goal, holding the Braves to just two goals over the final two periods. For the Braves, Adam Payerl put up two goals and one assist.
Speaking of impressive starts, the Orangeville Northmen are now 7-0 with their latest win over the St. Catharines Athletics.
With 35 seconds to go in the second period the Northmen eked out a one-goal lead to take into the third after spending most of the game volleying the lead back and forth with the A’s. The Northmen widened the gap with two goals in the first six minutes of the third and held on to finish things up 8-5.
Sean Gillies had three goals for the Northmen, while Matt McLeod had one goal and two assists and Nick Rose earned the win in net. Andrew Potter and Corey Small had two points apiece for the A’s.
