Sunday and Monday scores

B.C. Junior A

SUNDAY, JUNE 8th
Victoria Shamrocks 9 Burnaby Lakers 1 Apparently the Saturday loss to the Coquitlam Adanacs did not sit well with the Victoria Shamrocks, as they turned around and obliterated Burnaby, holding the Lakers to the lowest score they’ve seen in years. Recent returnee Michael Pires led the assault with another three goals and three assists, while the Victoria defense held the Lakers to 27 shots, 26 of which were turned away by Matt Flindell.

New Westminster Salmonbellies 7 Nanaimo Timbermen 4 New West joined the Adanacs and Shamrocks in the ten-win club Sunday with their win over the Timbermen. Each of New West’s seven goals were scored by a different player, with markers coming from Jesse Fehr, Jarrett Toll, Ben Davies, Ben Johnson, Max Gallant, Eric Lewthwaite, and Alex Turner.

Ontario Junior A

SUNDAY, JUNE 8th
K-W Braves 6 Peterborough Lakers 1 With K-W tender Evan Kirk throwing up over 50 minutes of shutout lacrosse it’s no wonder the Braves cruised to their sixth win of the season. Scott Tinning and Jon Thomson put in a goal and two assists each to lead the Braves in points.

Akwesasne Indians 9 Mississauga Tomahawks 2 The Indians snagged their seventh win of the season with a big game over the hapless Tomahawks. Joe Tallis stopped 39 of 41 while Miles Thompson and Kyle Buchanan chipped in with two goals and two helpers each.

Orangeville Northmen 8 Whitby Warriors 3 In the third lopsided Sunday game, the new number one team in the nation got two goals apiece from Brandon Ivey and Jeremy Noble while Nick Rose made 33 saves.

MONDAY, JUNE 9th
Burlington Chiefs 9 Toronto Beaches 5 With three goals and one assist, Jordan McIntosh cleared the way for a Burlington win over the Beaches. Jason Crawford turned away 42 en route to the Chiefs’ sixth win of the season.
