The Money Ballers: JR A Edition
Well, even though he had some heat on his heels in the last couple weeks, Six Nations work horse Cody Jamieson took our first ever JR A Money Ballers.
Jamieson’s single game winner might have the average stats junkie wonderin’ how he climbed the charts on The Money Ballers this summer, but when you look at his seven game winning assists almost 20 go ahead points and nine game tying points, the dude just oozed dollar signs all over the court since May.
Other guys that really impressed on the board this year?
Max Gallant for one. The kids been on the leaderboard since we first dropped it, at one time being only a couple points shy of the top spot. Gallant, who sits third in New West scoring, finished eighth in the country in The Money Ballers. His work while some of the big names were still away at school in the first half of the year was pretty huge for the Bellies and even though he hasn’t really factored into New West’s early post-season games, this guy knows how to come up big in the later rounds.
Obviously the Nanaimo duo of Colton Clark and Cody Bremner has been impressive as hell all season long, with Colton finishing second overall in the rundown, ahead of eastern power houses like Corey Small, Kyle Buchanan and Kevin Brownell.
Jarrett Davis really poured it on with clutch goals in the last month(ish) of the Adanacs’ season, cracking the top ten a couple weeks back and holdin’ his own as the A’s clinched that nemero uno seed.
Really cool to see America stud Joey Resetarits sneak into the top 30 in this last regular season rundown too. Resetarits has been another great field-to-box revelation this summer and has scored some monster goals for St. Kitts as they look for their first Minto appearance since 2003 (Interesting Fact: The 2003 A’s were fronted by Luke Wiles, Joey’s brother Frank’s teammate in San Jose… OK, maybe not that interesting). He’s already swining pro GM’s heads and the kid is only entering his first fall at Albany in September. And for those that didn’t notice, the guy blew it up at the UA North/South game this past weekend too. Think I heard something about Resetarits curing cancer after the A’s season finishes up, but only if he has time.
Also took a deeper look into the top 50 guys on the charts, mainly looking at what teams harvested to most Mooney guys this year. Here’s a quick numerical breakdown of what team’s sported the most ball players within the best 50 guys in this first ever JR A Money Ballers….
(5 players) Coquitlam and St. Catherines, (4) Burnaby, New West and Port Coquitlam (niiice), (3) Akwesasne, Nanaimo, Peterborough, Six Nations and Victoria, (2) Brampton, Burlington, Orillia and Whitby, and (1) Delta, KW, Mississauga, Orangeville and South Fraser.
The only team with no players in the top 50 was Toronto, although had they not dealt Stephen Keogh and Todd Hosmer at the deadline, they woulda had two ballers in the mix no doubt.
Kinda interesting to see Orangeville with only Mat McLeod in the top 50 and no one within the top 30, but with their solid team concept O and spread out scoring, I guess they did pretty good goin’ that route, if you consider being the top ranked team in Canada good. I guess it’s ok. Maybe, just maybe, Matt Sawyer’s kids are onto something.
Anyways, checkout the final ranking below, and next week we’ll look at the top dawgs in the post-season…
