Six Nations Arrows also disciplined for illegal player

It appears that the Akwesasne Indians weren’t the only ones that got nailed by the league for using what was later deemed an ineligible player during this year’s OLA Jr. A playoffs.
NLL Insider has learned that the Six Nations Arrows were also disciplined by the OLA yesterday for the use of an unaffiliated player during their current post-season series.
The unaffiliated player that the Arrows inserted in their lineup, during Game 2 of their series with the Peterborough Lakers, was Hamilton Bengals (OLA Jr. B) forward Ryan Dilks.
Dilks had appeared in four regular season games for the Arrows, but was a full-time starter in Hamilton, where he finished second in team scoring. The Bengals are not an affiliate of the Arrows.
Unlike the Indians, who had their Game 2 result overturned in favor of the Burlington Chiefs, the Arrows lost their game against the Lakers during the game in question, so their series sits at 2-1 in favor of the Arrows, who won game three last night.
Six Nations and Akwesasne were both however fined an undisclosed amount by the OLA for their recent actions.
As mentioned in our report this morning, a similar incident of using an unaffiliated player occurred during the playoffs three years ago when the Brampton Excelsiors used a player from the Elora Mohawks during their series against the K-W Braves.
In that instance, the game in question, which was won by the Brampton Excelsiors, was re-played, ultimately forcing an eighth game in the best of seven series. The Excels went onto win that additional game.
Since then however, the OLA has adjusted their rules, simply reversing the result if the offending team won the game in which the ineligible player was used.
