Brooklin up 2-0 on K-W, St. Regis and Six Nations tied 1-1

In the Major Series Lacrosse quarter-finals the Brooklin Redmen took a 2-0 lead last night in their best-of-five with the K-W Kodiaks, winning by a score of 10-8. In the Chiefs-Indians match-up, Six Nations took the first game 11-10 and St. Regis took the second 12-7 for a series that stands at 1-1. In Ontario Sr. B semi-final action, the Owen Sound Woodsmen are up 2-1 on the Wellington Aces, and the Brooklin Merchants lead the Norwood Nitro 2-0.
Shawn Williams exploded for eights points last night (4g 4a) to lead his Redmen to their second win of the series. Derek Hopcroft added three goals and four assists and Mike Miron earned the win in net. Jamie Rooney led the Kodiaks with three goals and one helper. The night previous, the Redmen topped the Kodiaks 9-4 to start the series off.
Tuesday night the Six Nations Chiefs surprised the higher-seeded St. Regis Indians with a big third period to start their series off 1-0 for the Chiefs. Six Nations bounced back from a 10-6 deficit, scoring five in the third while Matt Vinc shut out the Indians to complete the comeback. Dean Hill, Cory Bomberry, and Cody Jacobs had four points apiece for the Chiefs. Wednesday night the St. Regis Indians bounced back to down the Chiefs 12-7 and even up the series. Unsurprisingly, it was Mark Steenhuis with three goals and three assists that led the Indians. Mike Thompson posted the win in net.
The Wellington Aces will be looking to stay alive in their semi-final series, with the Owen Sound Woodsmen up 2-1 after winning Wednesday’s low-scoring game 5-3. Steve Dietrich and Bob Watson will be doing battle again tonight, 8:30 PM EST in Owen Sound in what promises to be another defensive battle in game four of this best-of-five.
In the other Senior B semi-final, the Brooklin Merchants—who cruised to the semis on a bye—have dumped the Norwood Nitro two games in a row, by scores of 7-6 and 14-9. The Nitro will have to stave off elimination Sunday night in Brooklin, 7 PM EST.
