Brampton, ‘Borough win openers
How do you make a playoff statement? Just ask the Brampton Excelsiors.

Then again, not much needs to be said and the Brooklin Redmen probably want to get as far away from Game 1 of their Major Series Lacrosse semifinal as they can. And who can blame ‘em after Brampton’s 13-1 pasting of Brooklin in the opener over the weekend? Jeff Shatler led the way with five goals and Dan Dawson had three goals and three assists. That leaves the Excelsiors with a 1-0 lead in this series, which also happens to be the same advantage the Peterborough Lakers have in their series with the St. Regis Indians following Sunday’s 13-10 victory at St. Regis. Both series resume in quick fashion with Brooklin at Brampton tonight for a 7 p.m. faceoff and St. Regis at Peterborough tomorrow for an 8 p.m. faceoff.
