New West heading East for Mann

Last night the New Westminster Salmonbellies locked up their spot in the Mann Cup, finishing off the Coquitlam Adanacs with an 11-8 win for the four game sweep. The Salmonbellies only suffered one loss over the course of both the regular season and the playoffs.
After New West jumped out to a 3-1 lead to end the first, the Adanacs actually outscored them 6-4 in the second to tie things up 7-7. Dane Dobbie put one in for Coquitlam to take an early 8-7 lead in the first minute of the third period, but that would be the last time the Adanacs would have reason to celebrate, as Bubba Westwood, Ilija Gajic, Chris Gill and Cliff Smith each scored for the Bellies to put the game out of reach.
Gajic had two goals and three helpers on the night to lead the team in points, while Smith had three and one, Gill and Jordan McBride scored two each and Jordan Hall chipped in with four helpers. The Bellies defense limited Coquitlam to 31 shots, 23 of which were turned away by Matt Roik. Dobbie had two for the Adanacs.
With the Bellies officially in the hunt for their 25th Mann Cup, now would be a good time to order your New Westminster Salmonbellies t-shirt from the WLA store. Might want to do that quickly since I’m hearing the red and black Bellies shirts are already sold out of small, and red is sold out of XL.
