Who’s gonna be the Mann in 2008?

The schedule’s out and the Mann Cup kicks off this Friday, so it’s time to crank up the intensity and try to figure out what’s gonna go down.

Easier said than done, of course, but when it gets to this stage of the game, all sorts of questions are hoppin’ in this melon. The big one, as in who’s gonna win the thing, can’t be answered for obvious reasons. But while that’s the big question, it’s not the only one. New Westminster absolutely owned the game out West as colleague Steve Kojima pointed out a while back, but fans out East are gonna argue that the Brampton Excelsiors might roll with plenty of experienced ballers on the roster. How can you pick against a team with Anthony Cosmo in goal and Brodie Merrill, Blaine Manning, Colin Doyle and Dan Dawson in front of him?

Do stats mean anything for this matchup? Does the home-floor advantage favor Brampton? Can the ‘Bellies — with just one loss, in overtime, all season — keep that momentum rolling? Legit questions all, but the fun part of following a sport is trying to break off some genius analysis of the series, and that’s why there’s a thread over at WingsZone.com. Get on over there and drop some knowledge on us.
