NLL Combine game

I’ll try to keep this brief because it is late but here’s a few thoughts on the combine game.

Not only were players trying out for the NLL but so were refs and stats crews so  I suspect there are some mistakes in the stats. I can’t give you accurate assists but here I am sure that my goalscorers are correct.

The final score was 20-13 for the Red team. Scoring for the red team were Geoff Griffiths 3, Chad Henry 3, Kevin Buchanan 2, Mike Fleming 2, Ryan Campbell 2, Jamie Kirk 2, Joe Cinosky 2, Cayle Ratcliff 1, Dilon Graham 1, Paul Rabil 1, Adam Lukanchoff 1.  I could not keep track of all the assistes but I did record that Jordan Levine showed great transition speed setting up one goal and Tim Campeau also had a few assists.

For the black team Nick Cotter had 4 goals, Rhys Duch had 3, Daryl Veltman had 2, with singles to Adam Gardner, Matt Danowski, Andrew Watt and Mike Ammann

Paul Rabil showed flashes of brilliance and Matt Danowski looked much more comfortable in the 2nd half with at least one beautiful assist to go along with a pretty goal. Other Americans who impressed me were defenders Joe Cinosky (6-3 , 220) who looked very comfortable as he scored 2 transistion goals and Hopkins defender Matt Bocklet who was steady in his own end and probably made the hardest hit of the game in with a first quarter cross check.

At one point each team gave approximately one quarter of play to local goaltenders and while they did their best it was probably the reason that the Red team broke the game wide open in the fourth quarter.

While there has been lots of talk regarding trades one deal was conmsumated late Saturday night.  I have been asked to wait until the players have been notified, so stay tuned to NLLInsider for details.
