In the first big trade of the weekend, the Toronto Rock have traded Aaron Wilson and a 2009 first-round  draft choice to Rochester for Stephen Hoar and Rochester’s 2008 first round draft choice (5th overall).

Toronto then moved the 2008 draft choice to San Jose for Luke Wiles.  The deal was ironed out very late Saturday night.

So essentially Toronto gets Stephen Hoar, a 5-year player transition player/faceoff specialist who also has a good scoring touch. His most productive season was in 2007 when he scored 10 goals and 13 assists. They also get Luke Wiles, a third year sniper who has scored 73 goals and 112 assists in 44 career games. Wiles’ breakout season was in 2007 when he score 30 goal and last year’s campaign was cut short with an ankle injury but he is healthy and ready to go.

Rochester gets Aaron Wilson, a gifted finisher who has averaged over 30 goals a season throughout his 6 year career with the Toronto Rock in which he was part of 2 championship teams. His most productive season was 2005 when he scored 41 goals and 33 assists.  As well, Rochester gets another first round pick in the 2009 draft. It is no secret that they want Sid Smith and Cody Jamieson (if he decides to finish his collegiate career early).

From San Jose’s point of view they now have the 2nd, third and 5th picks in this morning’s draft which allows them to load on up on some good young talent and also gives them some pretty good cards if they choose to make another deal.

I’ll be heading over to the draft shortly and will be updating frequently. Keep watching the NLLInsider.com for more breaking news.
