Brampton wants to restore its power

It’s tough to complain when you’re up 2-0 in the Mann Cup finals, but let’s stop short of calling it that. Let’s just say Colin Doyle believes his Brampton Excelsiors are capable of playing even better than they have in staking themselves the early lead against the visiting New Westminster Salmonbellies.

In other words, Doyle will someday make a perfect coach! Joking aside, Doyle points specifically to his team’s 0-for-9 performance on the power play in the two games so far. Tough to argue that. Get yourself in nine man-advantage situations, and you gotta expect to cash in more often. “I know we’re happy with the wins, but we need to go a little harder in the third,” Doyle told the Toronto Sun. “I think we are sitting on our leads.” New West might have some of the same thoughts because it’s not doing much better on the power play, converting just 2 of 12 opportunities.

Both clubs get their chance to improve on that stat tonight with Game 3 faceoff time set for 7:30 p.m.
