The Knighthawks announced on Monday that the former National Lacrosse League MVP would miss the 2009 season. Grant was forced into emergency surgery last Friday when doctors discovered that an infection was getting worse as it started to attack his left ACL. As a result, the doctors in Peterborough had to remove his entire ACL. Grant, 33, will be in a knee brace from four to 12 months, at which time he will be re-assessed. The Knighthawks organization is focused on helping John and his family deal with this very serious situation as our main concern is for his health and well being.

Grant completed his ninth season with the Rochester Knighthawks in 2008. He is the team’s all-time leader in goals (394), assists (417) and points (811).
