Titans name Aaron Jones Team President
Longtime NBA and NFL executive and former Cornell University All American lacrosse player Aaron Jones has been named the President of the New York Titans, the team announced today in a press release. He replaces Timoty Kelly and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the team’s lacrosse and business operations.
Jones, who has run his own full-service marketing firm - Jones Marketing and Management - since 2002, has past experience as a Team President in the NBA’s Developmental League and worked in marketing for the NFL and the NFL Players Association prior to that.
A Long Island native, Jones was a four-year letter winner at Cornell and recieved All-Ivy League honors from 1985-’87, playing for the 1987 NCAA runner-up and earning All America honors as a senior.

New York (September 18, 2008) – Aaron Jones, a former NBA and NFL executive and an All-American lacrosse player at Cornell University, has been named the new Team President of The New York Titans, replacing Timothy Kelly. Jones will report directly to team ownership and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of lacrosse and business development operations.
“Aaron’s love of the game and his background in the world of professional sports and entertainment management will be invaluable in our efforts to grow our franchise and the popularity of lacrosse in one of the most diverse sports and entertainment markets in the world,” said New York Titans owner Gary Rosenbach. “With the addition of Ed (Comeau) as our head coach we are looking to build on the on-field success we enjoyed last season and hopefully bring a Champions Cup to New York.”
Jones brings more than two decades of sports and entertainment industry experience to the Titans and a comprehensive knowledge of marketing, brand development and professional franchise management. Prior to joining the Titans, Aaron ran Jones Marketing & Management (JMM), a full-service marketing firm he launched in 2002 specializing in sports, entertainment and corporate initiatives. Under his leadership, JMM generated more than $5 million in client revenue and brand value for high profile clientele including: Mercedes Benz N.A., AXA Financial, Inc., WNBA Players Association, The Jordan Brand, Prince, Jay-Z and many others.
Mr. Jones also served as the Team President for the National Basketball Development League’s franchise in Greenville, SC, one of the original eight teams in the NBA Development League. Under his leadership, the team hired the first female to ever coach a men’s professional basketball team and won the inaugural NBDL Championship.
In addition to his NBA experience, Jones spent ten years with the National Football League, five years as Senior Manager of the Club Marketing division of NFL Properties where he was responsible for developing programs to enhance local marketing efforts, further brand development and increase promotional opportunities for NFL’s business partners and teams. Jones also served a five year tenure with the NFL Players Association as the Assistant Vice President of Players Inc., the marketing company for the NFL player’s union. At the NFLPA, Jones managed the trading card and retail promotion categories, which generated more than $20 million in royalty income.
A native of Long Island, NY, Jones received his Bachelors of Science degree at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and also a Masters of Science from the University of Massachusetts. While at Cornell, Jones was a four (4) year letterman with the Big Red lacrosse team. In 1987 Aaron was voted a collegiate All-American the same year that his team finished as the National Collegiate Championship runner-up. Jones was also named Cornell’s Athlete of the Year in ’85 and ’87 and received All Ivy League Team honors ’85-’87.
Jones also combines his NFL, NBA and entertainment business experience with his athletic participatory knowledge in the service of his community. He currently serves as a board member for the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation, the Chairman of the US Lacrosse Foundation’s Diversity Committee and as a member of the Cornell University Athletic Alumni Advisory Committee. Personally, he spends the remaining quality time with his wife and daughter at their home in New York City.
