Source: Ryan McNish dealt to Edmonton Rush, Chris Levis signs with Rush

NLL Insider has learned from sources that the Calgary Roughnecks have dealt defender Ryan McNish and their third round pick in the 2010 Entry Draft in exchange for Edmonton’s first round pick in the same draft year.
After gaining a rep as one of the league’s best fighters during a long remembered scrap with Tim O’Brien a number of years back, McNish has worked his way into Calgary’s full-time lineup since then, holding down a starters spot in the Necks’ back-end for the past three seasons, with an increased role last winter.
The deal lands Calgary a first rounder in a draft that will likely see names like Jarrett Davis, Josh Gillam, Ilija Gajic, Kyle Rubisch, Dan McCrae, and likely Cody Jamieson going in the first round. Although fairly top heavy, the 2010 draft will pale in comparison to what is available next year.
In related news, the Edmonton Rush also gained another keeper today in Chris Levis. The signing now has the Rush holding onto three vet keepers in Steve Dietrich, Curtis Palidwor and of course Levis.
The rumours are already swirling in many circles, implying that Rush GM Bob Hamley might have a pretty sizeable deal in the works involving one of his tenders.
The Mammoth, who had used Levis as their backup to Gee Nash for the past few seasons, recently signed Jay Preece and Andrew Leyshon as potential backups for ‘09.
The Rush also released long time vets Dan Stroup and Kyle Goundrey yesterday.
