Stealth Brass Spotted in Baltimore

#2 pick Paul Rabil meets with San Jose
(Full disclosure: Locker and Mouradian swung through IL’s Inner Harbor offices while they were in town, to pick up some reading for the flight home. But it sounds cooler the other way.)
Nothing to report yet on whether the two first-round picks will suit up for the Stealth, but the trip shows San Jose’s interest in Rabil and Huntley, who Mouradian thinks both have Rookie of the Year potential.
Rabil shot up draft charts and has said he’s committed to playing in the NLL, but he has a job in commercial real estate in Washington, D.C., and likely won’t be able to relocate to California. Huntley has box lacrosse experience through his father (former Team Canada star and coach Dave Huntley, currently the Philadelphia Wings coach), and was the MLL’s Rookie of the Year this summer. The younger Huntley likely will remain in the Baltimore area as well, as he tries to start a lacrosse camp business.
Mouradian says he spoke to Dave Huntley at a recent 1978 Team Canada reunion and the Wings coach said it’s Kevin’s decision where he wants to play. Most observers expected Huntley to go to the Wings at No. 9 in the Entry Draft, but the Stealth didn’t let him fall out of the Top 5.
The Stealth should once again have a core of at least 15 guys living in the San Jose area for the season, and certain Insider contributors think they could be one of the league’s best teams in 2009. However, other Insider contributors think they could fall to the league’s basement.
One important note is that Mouradian is confident in the Stealth’s ownership group and marketing focus — while San Jose has drawn disappointing crowds, they don’t appear to be in danger of folding or moving.
