The NLL’s very own Brett Favre?

For those lacrosse fans out there who have been secretly hoping for an unretirement announcement from a certain someone, you almost got your wish last night. But just hours after Kare 11 photojournalist Nate Anderson fanned the flames of the Eric Perkins rumours, Perkins himself took to his own blog to deny a return to the playing field.
(In case you don’t recall from last season, Perkins is the intrepid member of the Minnesota media who suited up for the Swarm and played one whole shift, which naturally earned him a retired jersey.)
But fret not, fanatics. If I know anything about dedicating too much time and energy to a news item that could best be described as buh?, I can confidently say that we haven’t seen the last of this story. Since Perkins and Anderson have already exchanged tame swipes via blog comments, the next logical step is to rapidly escalate the situation. We’re going to need a Snider jersey, a Candy jersey, and either an EMT or a laugh track. Commit or get off the pot, gentlemen.
However, if somebody happens to get to Perkins before Anderson does, I think we all owe it to Shawn Summerfield to pretend that nobody saw him walking away from the Kare 11 offices whistling cartoonishly with his hands in his pockets.
