Box lacrosse, explained

OK, I admit it. It’s a slow time of year for lacrosse. Especially box lacrosse.

Sure, we have player signings to follow and trades and deals and team tryouts. But they all lack action, if ya know what I mean. So what’s a fan to do? Well, there’s always plenty of work to do around the house but there’s also this thing called YouTube and if any of ya’ll have both, you know as well as I do what ya end up with. That’s right: housework on hold. That said, let’s see what a search of the YouTube files revealed from people attempting to explain what box lacrosse is all about.

Word to the wise: Don’t try this stuff at home. Let nam1971 and matthecat3 be a lesson to us all considering the prevaling theme from both video clips … injuries. And if you can explain to me the sudden urge to watch a certain movie after viewing these clips, I’d be much obliged.

In this video, we’re offered a definition of “blindside.” We’re also given a lesson on how to dress for the weather. Or, rather, how NOT to dress.

In this one, “Jimmy” has the right idea, at first, as far as what to protect. Too bad that didn’t help.

Like I said, don’t try this stuff at home. Just wouldn’t make sense, especially after having these fellas donate their time, and organs and limbs, to show us the dangers of box lacrosse. So we’ll definitely not endorse this sort of behavior at home.

Then again, we’d be remiss to not thank the posters of these clips to provide us lessons in what box lacrosse is not. And, of course, for the laughs. Whether we’re laughing at them or with them remains to be determined.
