Fan Poll: Past pros make the best head honchos, right?

Although the vote was fairly split on all three questions we threw at you guys this week, the consensus was that a pretty big bullet to have on your resume for coaches in this league is a past playing gig in the NLL or MILL.
Like we said on Monday, nine of the league’s 13 teams have coaches that have played in the NLL, a ratio that has the NLL well above most other leagues in North America.
The thing is, even though box lacrosse has been played in Canada in small sweat soaked barns forever, the NLL is a different beast than what happens up here in the summer.
Obviously most, if not all coaches, use the same concepts and strategies for the NLL that they have in the summer, a lot of the time however, things need to be tweaked a bit cuz of the NLL’s different style of ball. Who knows that better than players I guess, right?
One current NLL GM emailed us shortly after we posted this week’s poll and said, “Some of these guys come into the NLL with a bit of success coaching in Canada and think they’ll do the same in the NLL, even as just assistants. That is until they realize this is a totally different game and they can’t cut it. You can’t step into this league and think all you have to do is repeat what you did in the past. Either adapt and evolve or don’t waste your time in the NLL if you’re just going to rely on your past accomplishments. Those kind of guys are a dime a dozen.”
Anyways, check out the results of this week’s poll below…
