NLL Insider has learned that Edmonton Rush forward Ben Prepchuk has decided to take a season off from playing in the NLL while shifting focus to a new business venture that will not allow him enough time to suit up for the Rush in 2009.

Prepchuk is a seven year pro vet that has seen time in New York, Calgary, Colorado and most recently Edmonton during the 2008 season.

The Rush traded for Prepchuk during the summer of 2007, dealing the team’s second round pick in the 2007 Entry Draft for Prepchuk’s services.

Prepchuk was a Champion’s Cup winner with the Mammoth in 2006 and a Mann Cup winner with the Brampton Excelsiors in 2002. A stud sniper as a junior with the Burnaby Lakers, where he also won a Minto Cup during the summer of 2000, Prepchuk was part of the Edmonton Outlaws team that were crowned President’s Cup champs two years ago.
