Bling isn’t everything for Dawson

Dan Dawson isn’t officially a National Lacrosse League champion, as far as counting rings go. Though it’s not for a lack of effort, given he’s played in three of the last four Champion’s Cup games only to come up on the short end all three times.

Still, it’s not all about the bling, he told the Oakville Beaver. “When it’s all said and done, it’s not about the rings and it’s not about the money you made,” he says. “I want to be known as someone who was a great ambassador to the sport of lacrosse.” Can anyone argue that thing about Dangerous Dan being an ambassador for the game? The native of Oakville, Ont., has uprooted his life for NLL teams in Arizona, Oregon and now the expansion Blazers in Massachusetts. Thing is, it’s not just on the floor he’s getting that job done. As community relations director with the Blazers, he might be seen rollin’ with Boston’s mayor as well as giving him the chance to get to local schools and charity events to prop the team and the game. Sounds like a champ to me.
