Get your NLL fix in the friendly skies

Far be it from the lacrosse world to shun any sort of ink that comes our way, that’s why it’s kinda cool to see a tight and bright blurb proppin’ up the National Lacrosse League in Spirit, the magazine you find on flights for Southwest Airlines.

Under the headline reading ” ‘Crosse Fire,” which reminds us old-schoolers of the now-defunct team in Pittsburgh, readers in the friendly skies can get a quick lowdown of what’s up with the NLL. It mentions the Dec. 27 season-opener in Chicago against the Shamrox and the Rochester Knighthawks, lets readers know some of the cities that have teams and even provides a link forĀ a history of the game. Very cool. The not-so-cool? Game tickets don’t start at $80, as the story says. Season-ticket packages, maybe. The other little gripe involves the suggested video you can watch to familiarize yourself with the game. The clip’s a little more than 2 minutes long, but not a single second of it is box lacrosse. There’s plenty of Hopkins and Virginia highlights, along with some MLL action, but nothing indoors.

But hey, it’s all good. We’ll just take it in stride and smile. ‘Cause indoors or outdoors, the more people we can introduce to our beloved game, the better.
