Dallas Eliuk says goodbye to Philly

Philadelphia sports fans have been called many things over the years, but on Monday night Dallas Eliuk nearly came up with a new one. In fact, according to a google search, this has happened only once before in a non-sarcastic manner. Eliuk has called them heartwarming.
In an email written specifically to the Philadelphia Daily News, Eliuk not only gave his reasons for retirement but also added a thank you to the amazing, steadfast, supportive fans of the Philadelphia Wings, his sporting home for 15 years.
I learned to play lacrosse in Canada. I learned to love it and make it my life in The Spectrum & Wachovia Center. Just prior to the 2006 NLL season, after 15 winters in the city of Philadelphia, the rapidly deteriorating health of my father in British Columbia made it necessary to request a trade to a city closer to home. But my memories of Philadelphia, my Wings brothers, and most of all the amazing, steadfast, supportive fans, will warm my heart the rest of my days.
