Cody Jamieson in at Syracuse, Not NLL eligible until 2010 Entry Draft

A day after crowning Cody Jamieson as NLL Insider’s favorite to go first overall in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft, it was reported on Syracuse.com today that Jamieson has in fact been granted full-time status at the school starting next week, which means the Six Nations Arrows phenom will only be available to be drafted into the NLL by the 2010 draft.

And although the draft would occur during the Summer or Fall of 2010, it would only be the 2011 regular season that Jamieson would first be available to play pro lacrosse.

The report on Syracuse.com does indicate however that even though Jamieson has been cleared to practice with the school’s lacrosse team, “SU now must apply to the NCAA for some kind of waiver regarding one of Jamieson’s courses at OCC before he can be declared eligible to play in games.”

With Jamieson not available for selection in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft, current Bryant attackman and former Whitby Warriors forward Zack Greer is NLL Insider’s clear-cut favorite to go first overall in next September’s draft.

Jamieson’s absence from the 2009 draft brings its stature down a number of spots and now makes the 2010 draft far more interesting, which will include such prospects as Kyle Rubisch, Josh Gillam, Dan McRae and Ilija Gajic.
