NLL Girl of the Week: Laura
This week, we go north of the boarder to meet Laura, the newest National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week.

At first glance, we don’t see anything out of the ordinary with Laura. Yes, she’s a dancer. Yes, she’s beeing dancing since she was a kid. And yes, she just LOVES dancing. We get that. Of course she loves it. Why else would she be there cheering the Rock and encouraging fans each week. But when we read a little deeper into this 22-year-old who claims Ajax, Ont., as her hometown, we learn something truly shocking and surprising. It’s tough enough to read the words, but it’s even tougher that she has the nads to admit it! Publicly!
What could we possibly be talking about? Turn the page and find out.

By way of her Toronto Rock profile page, Laura informs us of the basics. How she danced for the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts and that’s what helped lead her into her first year with the Rock. She loves country music and fajitas from Lone Star. She has three pets and says her most memorable trip was to New York City and the blackout there while being stuck in a motel room with 10 other women. (Don’t go there!) So what’s got us all in an uproar? OK … we’ve teased you long enough. So here it is: Laura is Canadian and doesn’t know how to ice skate! Better yet, she admits it! “Yes I am embarrassed that I live in Canada and do not know how to skate!” she writes in the profile. So there ya have it, folks. She doesn’t know how to skate, but alas, there is hope. She describes her ideal date as going out to learn to skate. At least there’s an icebreaker (pardon the pun) for the date, eh?
In any case, Lauren’s got a lot to cheer for in Toronto this season as the Rock look to regain their glory years. “The energy and enthusiasm from the crowd is unlike any other I’ve ever experienced,” she told NLL.com. “Dancing for sports teams is so much fun and the girls on the team this year are truly amazing!”
When she’s not dancing or doing studies toward a degree in Kinesiology at York University, you just might find her playing soccer or snowboarding. But once she learns to skate, what do you think the chances are of seeing her play soccer on skates? Or snowboard on skates? Ya never know, right?
