NLL Girl of the Week: Meghan
Oh captain, my captain. If you’ve ever seen Dead Poets Society, you know all about that line. But if you haven’t seen the flick, it’ll still work here because the newest National Lacrosse League Girl of the Week is Meghan, captain of the Buffalo Bandits dance team.
Meghan’s in her fourth year with the Bandits so she’s seen quite a bit. She knows how much the HSBC rocks, probably because she and her dancemates have a lot to do with getting it that way. And if you tell us the Bandits themselves do the rockin’, well, she’s not gonna argue. She not only dances for the team, she’s up to date on the scene with a bunch of knowledge in her head when it comes to the game of box lacrosse. Stats? She knows ‘em? Records? That too. “I feel that as long as I’m on the dance team, I want to know about the Bandits team, learn the rules and become a fully involved fan,” she told NLL.com.
What else is Meghan up to?

She says on her team profile that her biggest strength is multi-tasking and how can she not be? She’s mother to a 6-year-old daughter and married. So keeping track of the kid isn’t the challenge. It’s gotta be hubby, right? Well, maybe one day she’ll let us know. Point is, she’s busy enough with a family to care for and love, but despite all that she’s got the drive and initiative to be captain of the dance team in Buffalo and it’s a job she does with skill.
Like just about every single Girl of the Week, Meghan started dancing as soon as she came out of the womb. Well, not literally. But her first dance class came at age 5 and by the age of 11, she was with the Russian Moscow Ballet for a role on The Nutracker. She did that over in her hometown of Syracuse before moving with her family to the Buffalo area. At the University at Buffalo, she studied dance and was part of the school’s Zodiaque Dance Company. And today, she’s a teacher of ballet, lyrical dance and private lessons at her studio.
No doubt, she’s got a lot to cheer for in Buffalo. Whether it’s the world-champion Buffalo Bandits or her “princess” of a daughter, Meghan’s got plenty to smile about. And yeah, we’re sure hubby’s got some cheers in there too. Somewhere, right?
