Morning Links: MLL to Toronto, Hall of Fame Inductions
News of inductees into a Hall of Fame and a pro outdoor league heading to Toronto are all over the newspapers this morning. The Toronto Sun, Canada’s largest daily newspaper, has two lacrosse-related stories. The first is about Major League Lacrosse, an outdoor pro league, moving a team to Toronto. And not just any team, either. The Rochester Rattlers are coming; they are the league’s defending champion.
The new owners plan to supplement the roster, already heavy with Canadian-born players, with players from the Iroquois Nation. Rochester is well-known in MLL circles for playing a version of indoor lacrosse outdoors; it particularly likes the two-man offensive game.
The paper also has a story on Jim Veltman and Dallas Eliuk being inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame. Those unfamiliar with Veltman’s and Eliuk’s bona fides can also read about them in this story, from the Philadelphia Inquirer.
