NLL Girl of the Week: Krystle

The important thing to remember when we introduce the National Lacrosse Girl of the Week is their contribution to the greater good. Think what you want about the dancers, but they work hard at what they do and like the grinder in the corner who isn’t out their for the glory, these dance teams are out there for the pure passion and enjoyment of the game. Kinda like Krystle, the second-year member of the Calgary Roughnecks’ Drill Crew. She’s out there for the love of it and if you’re nice to her, she just may crunch your numbers.

Get yer mind outta there, chump. When we say crunch numbers, that’s exactly what we mean. Sure, Krystle may be a swell dancer and a great promoter of the game, but when she’s not doing that stuff, she’s hard at work as a General JV Accountant. That’s pretty much the opposite of last week’s Girl of the Week, Emily, who has a Master’s degree in writing. Krystle’s game is numbers, though, and she’s all about the game-day preparation.

“It’s a good work-out, and I really enjoy learning new choreography. I also love the excitement of game day!”  she told NLL.com. She’s been a dancer since the age of 3 out of Camrose, Alberta, and she probably takes requests. Jazz, tap, hip-hop, modern, lyrical and musical. She says she’s got a handle on all types of dancing and we’re guessing the Roughies fans who’ve been to games and have seen her routine will readily agree. And if ya don’t believe them, just ask any fan of the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders, ’cause she spent two years rollin’ with that crew.

Lots of work, lots of dance and lots of numbers, for sure. That hasn’t soured her sense of humor, though. Checkin’ out her Drill Team profile, she’s achin’ for a meeting with “the dude from the Spence diamonds commercials, so I can slap him for making such ridiculous ads.” Sounds harsh, eh? Well, you can’t knock a person for their honesty and besides that, she’s got good taste in music with Ray Lamontagne loaded on the iPod. Musical taste does not make the person, but it is a good meter of coolness and anytime a woman wants to slap a fella for making “ridiculous ads,” it scores some major cool points with us.

So there ya have it, NLL fans. Krystle. She’s your NLL Girl of the Week so it’s a good idea to get out to the games and show your support. Especially if you’re the guy who made that ad, ’cause you’ve got some ground to make up, kid.
