Blazers double up on Wings in Friday Night National Lacrosse League Action

In a fitting tribute to Friday the 13th, last night the Philadelphia Wings took to the floor for their most gruesome outing yet, scoring a total of one goal in 50 minutes en route to an 8-4 loss to the Boston Blazers. With the win, the Blazers have swept the season series against the wings three games to none.

The Blazers went up 4-1 in the first, with Matt Bocklet notching the short-handed Wings marker at 9:19.

Hopefully no one at Wachovia missed that one while standing in line for beer because Anthony Cosmo and the Blazers defense held the Wings scoreless for the next two periods, with Cosmo stopping 16 in the second and third while Jon Harnett put up a big game in front of him.

The fourth quarter looked a little better as Kyle Wailes, Sean Thomson and Drew Westervelt each found the back of the net in the final ten minutes, but the Blazers had already put the game away thanks to three goals and one assist from Jason Bloom, two goals and three helpers from Dan Dawson, and singles from Daryl Veltman, Matt Lyons and Nick Cotter. For the Wings, Brandon Miller recovered from a shaky start to stop an impressive 48 of 56. Cosmo closed out the game with 33 saves. The Blazers are now tied with the Titans for second in the east.
